Brian McLaughlin SR Pros/Orth MBAPO
Brian graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1999, with a first class honours degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics. He spent the first five years of his career working as a prosthetist in the West of Scotland Mobility and Rehabilitation Centre in Glasgow. In this role he managed a busy case load of both upper and lower limb amputees whilst working as part of an active multi-disciplinary team.
Brian returned to the University of Strathclyde to take up a Lecturing post in 2004. He was part of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching team with additional responsibility for the running of the department’s prosthetic clinic where he would supervise students during their final year placements.
In 2010 Brian become a Prosthetic Product Manager for Steeper Group. He delivers training to clinicians in the use of the company’s upper limb products, with a particular focus on the bebionic range. Brian remains clinically active through his regular visits to clinical facilities throughout the UK and overseas.
Brian is a State Registered Prosthetist/Orthotist with the Health Professions Council and is a member of the British Association of Prosthetist and Orthotists (BAPO). Brian has served on the BAPO Executive Committee and is a former chairman of the BAPO Education Committee.
